Archbishop Mannix Travelling Scholarship

This scholarship was endowed by the Catholics of Victoria in honour of the former Archbishop of Melbourne, the Most Reverend Daniel Mannix. The scholarship is awarded every two to three years to a male or female candidate who after graduating from an Australian University gives evidence of:

  • real capacity for successful research;
  • possesses the qualities of character and general ability which would justify the hope of becoming a competent member of the teaching staff of a tertiary institution and a well-reputed Catholic in that office;
  • satisfies the selection committee that his or her financial position warrants a grant from the fund to enable him or her to pursue postgraduate studies at an overseas university.

The duration of the scholarship is normally two years but may be extended to three years. The stipend is $50,000 per annum. Applications in the year in which it is advertised should be submitted to the Rector of Newman College. The next award will be made late in 2017. The scholar will take up the award in September, 2018. Further information and application forms are available to download.
