The theme of love-stricken madness has long attracted musicians.
In this anthology of ‘mad songs’ through the ages, the Choir of
Newman College joins forces with the Australian soprano and
harpist, Amelia Le Plastrier, to perform music ranging from Renaissance
ballads to the riveting final scene of Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor.
Le Plastrier will share the fruits of her doctoral research into the
‘mad song’ in this evocative and colourful concert.
